GOF seizes RM412,740 in illegal fireworks in Klang raid

Police arrest two men and confiscate 272 boxes of prohibited firecrackers and fireworks in a Klang operation.

KLANG: Police have arrested two men and seized 272 large boxes of prohibited firecrackers and fireworks worth an estimated RM412,740 in a raid on a house in Taman Klang Utama.

The General Operations Force’s Battalion 4 Intelligence Branch conducted the operation, codenamed Op Taring Charlie Intra/Inter, detaining the suspects aged 29 and 32 at about 4 pm on Tuesday.

Commanding Officer Superintendent Amanjit Singh said an inspection of the premises uncovered the large cache of fireworks and firecrackers stored without a valid permit.

Authorities also impounded a lorry believed to have been used for transporting the illicit goods to the location.

The suspects and all seized items were subsequently taken to the Klang Utara District Police Headquarters for further investigation.

The case is being probed under the Explosives Act 1957, the Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing By-Laws (Klang Municipal Council) 2007, and the Road Transport Act 1987.
