Four individuals, including three state officers, arrested for allegedly soliciting bribes from a consultancy firm over pollution control equipment deals
SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained four individuals, including three state government department officers.
They are suspected of soliciting and receiving bribes totalling approximately RM580,000 from a consultancy company between 2020 and 2025.
A source said the suspects were believed to have conspired to channel information on companies with electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) issues.
They are suspected of receiving the bribe money in stages via bank transfers into one suspect’s account.
The first transaction in 2020 involved about RM180,000, with two further transactions in January and February 2022 each involving about RM200,000.
All the men, aged between their 30s and 50s, were arrested under ‘Op Mickey’ at several locations around the state.
Magistrate Nurul Farha Ismail at the Magistrates’ Court here issued a five-day remand order until Jan 24.
Negeri Sembilan MACC director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail confirmed the arrests.
The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
