Penang police refute social media claims that state government officers were detained in a raid on a shoplot for alleged unnatural sex and prostitution activities.
BUTTERWORTH: Penang police have denied claims circulating on social media that state government officers were detained during a raid for alleged immoral activities.
State police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said checks revealed no civil servant was among those arrested in the operation on Saturday.
He confirmed one student from a public institution of higher learning was detained, but no government officers.
All 13 men arrested remain under remand until Dec 5 as police continue their investigations.
The case is being probed under Section 377B of the Penal Code for intercourse against the order of nature and Section 292 for obscene materials.
Of those detained, 11 were customers, including two foreigners aged 19 to 66.
The other two were the 57-year-old shoplot owner and a 59-year-old worker.
