Perak police believe three armed robbery suspects from Klebang Ria are still in the country, with possible links to a Penang case
LARUT: Police believe that the three men suspected of being involved in an armed robbery at a grocery store in Taman Klebang Ria, Chemor near Ipoh on Sunday, the video of which went viral on social media, are still in the country.
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said detailed investigations are underway, including reviewing video footage of the incident and tracking the movements of all three suspects, who remain at large.
“At this stage, we also suspect that the three suspects are linked to an armed robbery case that occurred in Nibong Tebal (in Penang) recently,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after attending the handover ceremony for the Selama district police chief and the chairpman of the Selama Police Family Association (Perkep), as well as the rank-pinning ceremony for senior police officers at the Selama District Police Headquarters (IPD) multipurpose hall here today.
Noor Hisam said police viewed the incident seriously as it had the potential to disrupt public order and urged members of the public to immediately contact the authorities if they had information regarding the three suspects.
Yesterday, Ipoh district police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said police had identified the three men believed to be involved in the armed robbery at a grocery store in Taman Klebang Ria, Chemor on Sunday and suspected them of involvement in a similar crime at a convenience store in Nibong Tebal.
Meanwhile, Klang Selatan District Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division chief Supt Ramzi Mahmudin was appointed Selama district police chief effective today, replacing ACP Sarudin Samah, who will assume the post of Shah Alam district police chief on June 9.
The handover ceremony was witnessed by Noor Hisam, who is also director of the Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK).
