Kuala Lumpur police detain 14 individuals during raids on six unlicensed entertainment outlets operating beyond permitted hours.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained 14 individuals during raids on six unlicensed entertainment outlets operating beyond permitted hours in the capital.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said those detained included six local men working as counter attendants and five Thai women suspected of working as guest relations officers.

He also confirmed the arrests included a Bangladeshi man and two Indonesian women, with all detainees aged between 22 and 45.

“The premises were also found to be operating without valid liquor licences and employing foreign workers without proper work permits,” he said in a statement.

Police seized various audio equipment, five bottles of liquor of different brands, five business receipts and RM799 in cash during the operation.

A total of 146 individuals were inspected during the raids conducted under Ops Noda, including 129 patrons and 17 workers.

The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(b) of the Entertainment (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) Act 1992.

Investigations are also proceeding under Section 76 of the Excise Act 1976 and Sections 55B, 39(b) and 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. – Bernama
