Selangor, N.Sembilan police issue 1,466 summonses in New Year’s Eve ops

Police in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan issued 1,466 traffic summonses and arrested 15 individuals during New Year’s Eve operations targeting road offences.

SELANGOR: Police issued 1,206 traffic summonses and arrested seven individuals during Ops Ambang 2026 operations across the state.

A total of 93 vehicles were also seized in the overnight operation that began on New Year’s Eve.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the Ampang Jaya district recorded the highest number of summonses at 199.

Shah Alam followed with 161 summonses, then Petaling Jaya (156), Klang Utara (124), Klang Selatan (80) and Sungai Buloh (74).

The seven individuals were arrested for offences under the Road Transport Act 1987.

These included reckless and dangerous driving, driving under the influence, and offences related to vehicle registration numbers.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, police issued 260 summonses after inspecting 560 vehicles.

The integrated operation ran from 9 pm on New Year’s Eve until 7 am this morning.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said offences included driving without a licence and illegal exhaust modifications.

“Police also seized 10 vehicles and arrested eight males aged between 14 and 23,” he said in a statement.

The arrests were made under the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Poisons Act 1952.

Separately in JOHOR, police issued 9,356 summonses under Ops Lancar from December 23 until New Year’s Eve.

Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said 130 vehicles were also seized during the period.

The seized vehicles comprised 126 motorcycles, two cars, one van and one lorry.
