Former PM’s aide Shamsul Iskandar will appear at MACC headquarters tomorrow over bribery allegations involving businessman Albert Tei.
KUALA LUMPUR: Former senior political secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin will appear at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters tomorrow.
He is scheduled to provide a statement regarding bribery allegations involving businessman Albert Tei.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed an investigation paper has been opened following news portal reports.
“Three witnesses have been called to provide statements so far,” Azam said when contacted today.
Albert Tei himself is scheduled to give his statement on December 1 after requesting a postponement due to unavoidable technical issues.
The woman featured in a viral video conversation with Albert has already provided her statement at 2pm today.
“All individuals summoned must cooperate fully to ensure a swift conclusion to this investigation,” Azam added.
“I have given my officers a two-week deadline to complete it, as this is a serious matter that requires immediate resolution.”
Shamsul Iskandar announced his resignation as senior political secretary to the Prime Minister on November 25.
The MACC had previously confirmed launching a probe into corruption allegations involving both Albert Tei and Shamsul Iskandar.
Commission officials stated that all relevant parties would be summoned to provide evidence.
