A 62-year-old man suspected of a Nilai explosion is believed to have built an improvised explosive device due to anger over a past relationship.
SEREMBAN: The man suspected of involvement in an explosion in Desa Palma, Nilai is believed to have constructed an improvised explosive device out of anger towards an ex-girlfriend.
Nilai district police chief Supt Johari Yahya said the 62-year-old suspect often spoke of his disappointment over the woman, who left him five years ago, to a neighbour.
“However, interrogation is still continuing but is quite limited given the suspect’s health condition which does not allow it and he is still being treated,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Johari added that 24 witnesses have so far recorded their statements.
The suspect’s remand was extended for another seven days starting Saturday after his initial remand period ended.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad was previously reported saying the suspect was arrested in Batang Benar, Nilai on December 27 with burn marks on his face, body, hands and feet.
The explosion occurred on the morning of December 22.
Police believe the suspect has technical knowledge and specialised skills in making explosives based on devices and equipment seized from his rented house. – Bernama
