Two arrested with drugs worth RM4,500 in Dungun

Police in Dungun arrest a man and a woman after finding 60.35g of drugs in their car, with the male suspect admitting the drugs were for distribution.

DUNGUN: A labourer and his female friend were arrested after police found various types of drugs in their car.

The 39-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were detained during an operation along Jalan Besar Kampung Nyior Paka.

Dungun police chief Supt Maizura Abdul Kadir said officers stopped a Perodua Axia at about 3.10pm yesterday.

An inspection uncovered two blue plastic packets containing pills believed to be yaba, weighing 59.56 grammes.

Police also found a clear plastic packet containing crystal powder believed to be syabu, weighing 0.79 grammes.

The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at RM4,553.90.

Both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and have prior drug records dating back to 2010 and 2015 respectively.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the male suspect admitted the drugs belonged to him and were intended for distribution,” Maizura said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death penalty.

It is also being probed under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
