Two men remanded six more days in Sungai Bakap murder case

Police extend remand of two suspects for six days in Sungai Bakap restaurant attack that left one dead, two injured, with 14 suspects now arrested.

NIBONG TEBAL: Two men have been remanded for another six days to assist police investigations into a fatal restaurant attack in Sungai Bakap.

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail (pic) said the two suspects, aged 23 and 36, were due to be released but will now be held until January 12.

“The police are also conducting further investigations including identifying if there are still suspects involved in the attack,” he said.

Azizee added that 14 suspects have been arrested and remain under remand in connection with the case.

The incident occurred at 4.30 pm on December 30 when three traders were attacked by more than 15 masked men armed with sharp objects.

The attack at the restaurant resulted in one man being killed and two others injured.

One of the injured victims was initially reported to be in critical condition but is now stable.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
