DBKL and PPJ activate disaster rooms as severe weather hits

Minister directs DBKL and PPJ to activate disaster operations rooms amid tropical storm, with emergency hotlines provided for public safety.

PUTRAJAYA: Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa has directed Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Putrajaya Corporation to maintain high alert status and activate their Disaster Operations Rooms.

The directive comes amid unpredictable weather conditions affecting multiple states across Malaysia.

Dr Zaliha emphasised public safety as the top priority, urging families to avoid risky outdoor activities and follow official instructions during emergencies.

“In light of the uncertain weather, I urge everyone to remain vigilant, particularly in areas at risk of heavy rainfall, strong winds and flash floods,” she stated in a Facebook post.

The minister encouraged citizens to monitor official weather updates from the Malaysian Meteorological Department through its digital platforms.

DBKL’s emergency hotlines are available at 03-2617 8862 and 019-212 0032 for disaster-related assistance.

PPJ can be contacted at 03-8887 7999 for emergency situations in Putrajaya.

METMalaysia confirmed Tropical Storm Senyar entered Malaysian territory at 3.30 pm today, affecting several states until Saturday.

The storm is expected to bring continuous heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas to most Peninsular Malaysia areas.

Selangor, Perak and parts of Pahang are anticipated to experience severe weather conditions during this period.
