The Immigration Department found 266 foreigners in Forest City with valid documents after an inspection linked to allegations involving Network School.
PETALING JAYA: The Immigration Department (JIM) has inspected an international community in Forest City, Johor, involving 266 foreign nationals from 40 countries, with initial checks finding that all individuals possessed valid immigration documents.
Its director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said further verification and investigations were still ongoing to ensure full compliance with Malaysia’s immigration laws, including the Immigration Act 1959/63 and related regulations.
“The department will conduct further investigations into any matters that raise concerns or if new information emerges regarding possible misuse of identities, travel documents, immigration facilities or violations of issued pass conditions,” he said in a statement today.
The inspection, conducted on July 14, involved collaboration between JIM, the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP), the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the Johor State Secretary’s Office and the police.
Zakaria stressed that the department would not compromise on any violations of immigration laws or misuse of immigration facilities.
“Any individual found to have breached the law will face enforcement action based on investigation findings and the relevant legal provisions,” he said.
He added that the department would continue working closely with the Home Ministry and relevant agencies to ensure all matters under their respective jurisdictions were reviewed thoroughly, professionally and in accordance with the law, in order to safeguard national security, sovereignty and interests.
The inspection came amid concerns over alleged immigration irregularities involving the operations of Network School in Forest City, including claims that individuals had used second-country passports to enter Malaysia.
The Home Ministry has said it was investigating the matter involving identities, nationalities, travel documents, immigration passes and the purpose of entry.
