Kelantan police warn of strict action against a motorcycle convoy without a permit, especially near the airport where haj pilgrims are travelling.

KOTA BHARU: Police have warned that firm action will be taken against organisers of a motorcycle convoy if it disrupts the public, especially along routes leading to Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (LTSIP) here.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said no permit had been issued for the convoy.

He said organisers had been advised to comply with regulations and avoid causing traffic congestion.

Mohd Yusoff said organisers had assured police that the convoy would not head towards the airport area.

“Police will not compromise with any party causing disruption, especially as haj pilgrims are travelling to the airport,” he told Bernama.

He said monitoring operations, including roadblocks with the Road Transport Department have been activated at several strategic locations.

A Bernama check found no motorcycle convoy present at the airport area this afternoon.

Police personnel were seen monitoring entry routes and departure areas to ensure smooth passenger movement.

Roadblocks were also set up along main routes, with vehicles inspected periodically.

Observations showed the convoy only passed along main roads towards the airport without entering the compound.

Traffic conditions around the airport remained under control with no disruptions reported.

Earlier, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Anthony Loke Siew Fook described the planned convoy as highly irresponsible and stressed that airport areas must remain secure.
