A stingless bee farm at a Jitra tahfiz school helps cover costs and provides students with hands-on entrepreneurial skills and practical experience.
JITRA: Stingless bee farming at Madrasah Tahfiz Taufiqillah here helps cover operational costs while providing students with hands-on entrepreneurial learning.
Principal Datuk Seri Auzaid Ismail said the kelulut farm in Kampung Lembah Arang has operated since 2015.
He explained the initiative complements infaq donations and assists students from asnaf families who cannot afford fees.

“The initial capital for the kelulut farming project was provided by a tithe organisation,” he said.
The project gives students practical exposure to colony care, honey extraction, and producing downstream products.
Auzaid said this involvement helps produce graduates with both religious knowledge and entrepreneurial skills.
Kelulut honey is sold online and directly at the madrasah for RM180 per kilogramme or RM30 for 120 grammes.
The centre’s more than 200 hives can produce 200 to 300 kilogrammes of pure honey annually.
Earlier, the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, visited the farm and sampled honey.
The tahfiz centre, with over 60 students, is now exploring plant fertiliser production to further increase income. – Bernama
