Malaysia rejects foreign interference in Venezuela’s internal affairs

Malaysia condemns foreign interference and use of force in Venezuela, urging peaceful dialogue and confirming safety of its citizens in Caracas

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has firmly rejected any form of foreign interference in a country’s internal affairs, including threats or the use of force.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) stated this position in an update on the situation in Caracas, Venezuela, following reports of a security operation there.

“This is a fundamental principle enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and international law,” the ministry said in a statement.

Wisma Putra said Malaysia consistently upholds the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue, respect for national sovereignty, and adherence to international norms.

“At this critical juncture, it is imperative for all parties involved to exercise utmost restraint and seek a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy,” the statement added.

The ministry’s priority remains the safety and welfare of Malaysian citizens abroad.

The Malaysian Embassy in Caracas has contacted all registered Malaysians in Venezuela and confirmed their safety.

“The embassy is closely monitoring the ground situation and stands ready to provide necessary consular assistance if required,” the statement said.

Malaysians in Venezuela needing consular help can contact the embassy via phone or email.

Wisma Putra advised Malaysians in Venezuela to remain vigilant, follow local authorities’ instructions, and stay in close contact with the embassy.
