KESUMA launches Vetri Madani skills programme for Indian community

The Vetri Madani programme aims to train 2,000 Malaysians with RM10,000 funding in AI, cybersecurity and other high-growth sectors.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA) has launched the Vetri Madani Skills Programme 2026, an initiative to empower the Malaysian Indian community through skills training.

The Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), as the implementing agency, has allocated RM10,000 in funding with a target of training 2,000 participants nationwide.

The programme is designed to enhance employability through recognised professional certifications.

HRD Corp stated the initiative aligns with the focus areas of the 13th Malaysia Plan and supports the ministry’s goal of building an inclusive workforce.

“Designed to empower the local Indian community, the programme offers structured training pathways that improve quality of life by creating employment opportunities,” the agency said.

Courses will be offered in key sectors including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, data science, automation, robotics, and semiconductor engineering.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan launched the programme at a Ponggal celebration at the Sri Siva Subramaniar Temple in Sungai Buloh.

HRD Corp stated the programme reaffirms its commitment to inclusive talent development and equipping the community with future-ready skills.

To ensure nationwide reach, HRD Corp will collaborate with State Skills Development Centres and its registered training providers.

The programme will be administered fully online for governance, while training will be conducted physically or in hybrid mode.
