Sultan Ibrahim urges Johor MB to uphold integrity and commitment after BN’s strong state election victory.
KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today granted an audience to Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi in Johor Bahru.
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s official Facebook page, during the meeting, Onn Hafiz briefed the King on several matters, including the Johor state government’s administration following the recently concluded 16th Johor state election, as well as the state’s administrative direction and development plans.
“His Majesty also expressed hope that the Johor state government, having been entrusted with a new mandate by the people, will discharge its responsibilities with dedication, integrity and commitment in implementing every policy and initiative for the well-being of the people and the continued progress of Johor,” the statement said.
In Saturday’s state polls, Barisan Nasional (BN) retained its mandate to govern the state after winning 48 of the 56 seats in the Johor State Legislative Assembly, enabling it to form the state government with a larger majority.
The result saw BN increase its representation by eight seats from the 40 it secured in 2022, giving the coalition a two-thirds majority in the Johor assembly.
