Over 1,100 families received vouchers at Lembah Pantai’s Deepavali celebration, highlighting Malaysia’s multicultural harmony and community strength.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Deepavali Light Fiesta in Lembah Pantai showcased vibrant community participation and interracial harmony.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil noted this year’s celebration was particularly special as more than 1,100 families received vouchers for essential items.
“Festive celebrations held peacefully and harmoniously provide an opportunity to strengthen friendship and foster unity among us,” he said.
Fahmi, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, emphasized that such harmony is rare elsewhere and Malaysians are truly blessed.
He highlighted how Malaysia’s multiracial society, especially in Lembah Pantai, serves as a source of national strength.
Various festivals including Hari Raya, Chinese New Year and Christmas are celebrated harmoniously in the constituency.
The event featured traditional Indian delicacies and cultural performances by local youth group The Dream Catcher.
