Chief Secretary calls for periodic reviews to ease public burden and speed up development approvals.
KUALA LUMPUR: Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar wants Local Authorities (PBT) to review regulations periodically to ensure that outdated regulations are not allowed to continue to burden the people and delay development matters.
He said PBTs need to review regulations periodically, including every three years, standardise work processes and approval periods under the Iltizam Act and accelerate the digitalisation of services.
Shamsul Azri said he stressed this matter at the Engagement Session on Strengthening the Standardisation of Development Approval Processes and Procedures organised by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) with Mayors and PBT officers in Putrajaya today.
“I also emphasise that the PBT Corporate Communications Unit should not just publicise programmes, but really help the people understand and use the services available,” he said in a Facebook post.
At the same time, he wants the official portal of each PBT to be more interactive, easy to navigate and customer-friendly.
Shamsul Azri said reform is only meaningful when the people can experience easier, faster and more transparent transactions.
