Two men charged with using uncertified communication equipment causing network disruption in Subang Jaya face RM300,000 fines.
SHAH ALAM: Two men pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court to charges of using uncertified communication equipment that disrupted a telecommunication company’s network services.
Ling Siew Lung, 46, and Look Voon How, 47, made their pleas after the charges were read separately before Judge Nor Hasniah Ab Razak.
Look faced charges for using a GSM Module set without proper brand, model or serial number at a Subang Jaya fast-food restaurant parking lot on November 19, 2024.
This offence falls under Regulation 16(1)(b) of the Communications and Multimedia (Technical Standards) Regulations 2000, carrying a maximum RM300,000 fine or three years imprisonment.

Look also faced a second charge for intentionally causing major electromagnetic interference that disrupted the telco’s network services in the area.
This second offence was charged under Regulation 34(5)(c) of the Communications and Multimedia (Spectrum) Regulations 2000 with identical penalties.
Ling was charged with abetting Look in committing both offences at the same location, date and time under Section 109 of the Penal Code.
Judge Nor Hasniah granted bail of RM5,000 for each charge for both accused, requiring one surety per person.
The court fixed December 9 for case mention of the telecommunications disruption case.
The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Fadhli Ab Wahab from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
Both accused were represented by their respective lawyers Kee Wei Lon and Jonas Ee Gen You during the court proceedings. – Bernama
