Malaysia’s MyGov app downloads jump 200% to 1.57 million users, driven by new features for checking cash aid and unclaimed funds status.
KUALA LUMPUR: Downloads for the MyGov application have surged by 200%, reaching 1.57 million new users.
This marks a significant increase from just 437,000 users recorded in December last year.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the surge reflects strong uptake among Malaysians. The app now offers 44 services across 16 different government agencies.
He noted the rise was also driven by announcements about new features. These allow users to check the status of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah cash aid and unclaimed funds.
“The integration of additional services will continue in phases, prioritising high-impact, widely used public services, including app and payment features,” Gobind said.
He added that over 30 new services are set to be added to the MyGov app this year.
The minister was responding to a question in Parliament today. Tan Hong Pin (PH-Bakri) had asked if the government plans to create a super app to consolidate all government transactions.
Gobind explained the platform was developed in-house by government experts. It uses existing platforms and infrastructure under current initiatives, in response to a question on development costs.
