A total of 93,555 individuals have benefited from the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) to purchase their first homes, says Nga Kor Ming.
PORT DICKSON: A total of 93,555 individuals have benefited from the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) to date, helping them purchase their first home, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said.
He said the government had allocated RM40 billion under the scheme to help Malaysians, including gig economy workers such as e-hailing drivers and food delivery riders, secure housing financing.
“To date, RM18 billion remains available, with loans approved by 17 financial institutions and guaranteed by the government.
“I am confident we will achieve our target of 100,000 first-time homebuyers benefiting from the SJKP by year-end. Those purchasing their first home valued at not more than RM500,000 are eligible to apply,” he said after attending the offer letter presentation and unit balloting ceremony for the Ladang Tanah Merah People’s Housing Programme (PPR), officiated by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, here today.
Nga also said the ministry (KPKT) plans to build 400 new high-rise People’s Residency Programme (PRR) units in Nilai at an estimated cost of RM117 million.
He said the Negri Sembilan state government has also approved land for two more PRR projects – one in Jempol worth RM29.2 million, scheduled for completion in 2028, and another in Linggi, Port Dickson, valued at RM30 million and expected to be completed in 2029.
The RM20 million Ladang Tanah Merah PPR comprises 100 single-storey terrace houses with a built-up area of 750 sq ft each for the surrounding estate community.
“All units are offered under the Rent-to-Own Scheme, with monthly rent from as low as RM237, inclusive of maintenance fees,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aminuddin said Negeri Sembilan continues to maintain a record of having no abandoned affordable housing projects or errant developers affecting homebuyers’ rights.
“The state government will continue to ensure every development not only benefits developers but also the people,” he said.
