2 roads closed in Hulu Langat due to morning flooding

Police close roads in Sungai Serai and Nanding after continuous rain causes flooding, assist SPM candidates to reach exam centres.

KUALA LUMPUR: Two roads in the Sungai Serai and Nanding areas of Hulu Langat have been temporarily closed by police following flooding caused by continuous rain since early this morning.

Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the police were alerted to the flooding at 6.18 am.

“The roads were closed as water levels continue to rise, and we want to prevent any untoward incidents,” he said.

Naazron stated that floodwaters in Batu 18, Hulu Langat had begun to recede, while Batu 14 remained inundated.

Police personnel have been deployed to monitor the situation across the affected areas.

He added that police and local residents assisted Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia candidates in reaching their examination centres.

The candidates were helped to get to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Abdul Jalil and SMK Dusun Nanding as access roads were flooded.

He confirmed that the flood relief centre in the area has been activated.

Residents affected by the rising waters were advised to evacuate to the centre for safety. – Bernama
