49 health facilities affected by floods across seven states

Floods force closure of 19 health facilities across seven states, with 27,955 victims in relief centres and 2,083 receiving medical treatment

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 49 health facilities have been affected by floods hitting seven states in Peninsular Malaysia.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said 19 facilities have been closed with operations relocated, while 27 continue to operate with adjustments.

Three facilities in Perlis are not operating, according to a National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre report as of 3 pm yesterday.

Dzulkefly said 345 medical and health teams have been deployed to flood-affected areas.

The seven states still affected are Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Terengganu, Selangor and Pahang.

A total of 27,955 flood victims are housed in 222 temporary relief centres as of yesterday afternoon.

The minister reported that 2,083 victims have received medical treatment so far.

Cases include 376 acute respiratory infections, 92 skin infections, 15 acute gastroenteritis cases and four conjunctivitis cases.

“No disease outbreaks have been detected at any PPS,” Dzulkefly confirmed.

Two flood-related deaths have been reported in Kelantan. – Bernama
