Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the people do not need to panic buy as the supply of basic food items is still stable and sufficient.
KOTA BHARU: The supply of basic food items such as eggs, chicken and beef, fish, vegetables and fruits nationwide is sufficient throughout the Aidilfitri celebration period.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the people do not need to panic buy as the supply of basic food items is still stable and sufficient.
“Alhamdulillah, so far the supply of basic food items is sufficient and the people do not need to panic buy.
“However, the demand for coconut milk has increased, but the ministry through the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), is increasing the supply from time to time,” he told reporters after the opening ceremony of ministry’s Entrepreneurs Aidilfitri Light Carnival and Iftar Kasih Ceremony at the Rural Transformation Centre, Tunjong here today.
Commenting on the programme, Mohamad said his party is targeting a sales value of RM750,000.
“This is not a small figure, this is a direct injection into the economy of agro-based industry entrepreneurs so that they continue to be progressive and sustainable.
“More than that, this carnival strengthens the synergy between the government, agencies and the entrepreneurial community in the blessed atmosphere of Ramadan,” he said.
