Anwar pays tribute to late Sabah BN Chairman Bung Moktar

Anwar described Bung Moktar as a long-time friend and a leader known for his firmness, strong principles and outspoken nature in championing the interests of the people.

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his condolences to the family of the late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, the Chairman of Sabah Barisan Nasional, who passed away early Friday morning.

In a Facebook post today, Anwar described Bung Moktar as a long-time friend and a leader known for his firmness, strong principles and outspoken nature in championing the interests of the people.

“Bung Moktar’s contributions to politics, especially his service to the people of Sabah and the country, will continue to be remembered and appreciated.

“I pray that his family is granted strength during this difficult time, and may his soul be forgiven for all his shortcomings and be granted a special place by His side, Insya-Allah. Al-Fatihah.”

News of Bung Moktar’s passing was confirmed by his son, Naim Kurniawan Moktar, who wrote on Facebook, “It is with great sadness that my father passed away on Dec 5 at 1.46am.”

According to Sabah Umno secretary Datuk Jafry Ariffin, Bung had been admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital the previous afternoon due to complications related to kidney failure and a lung infection.
