Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim receives farewell call from Chief of Defence Force Gen Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaafar, who retires next year.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a farewell courtesy call from Chief of Defence Force Gen Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaafar today.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s office in Putrajaya.
Anwar expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Mohd Nizam for his service.
“Thank you for your service, leadership and unwavering dedication throughout your service with the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in the interest of the nation’s sovereignty and security,” Anwar posted on Facebook.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin had previously confirmed Mohd Nizam is due for mandatory retirement upon turning 60 next year.
Khaled Nordin also confirmed the retirement is not connected to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) Ops Sohor investigations.
Mohd Nizam is scheduled to begin leave on 1 January 2026 ahead of his mandatory retirement in August. – Bernama
