From luxurious Sunday brunches to Latin American flavours and seafood-filled BBQ buffets, these weekend dining spots offer something for every appetite
Atas, The RuMa Hotel & Residences

The Sunday Brunch at Atas The RuMa Hotel & Residences feels less like a typical hotel buffet and more like a carefully paced dining experience designed around quality over excess.
Set within one of Kuala Lumpur’s more understated luxury hotels, the brunch leans into a refined, relaxed atmosphere rather than spectacle. There is no overwhelming spread that stretches endlessly across the room. Instead, the offering feels intentional, with a focus on premium ingredients, live cooking stations and plated dishes that arrive at a steady, unhurried rhythm.
The seafood selection is often the immediate highlight. Chilled seafood-on-ice sets the tone early, followed by warmer dishes that elevate the experience beyond a standard buffet line-up. The pacing of service is one of its stronger points, allowing guests to actually enjoy each round of food rather than rush through it.
One of the defining features of Atas Sunday Brunch is its hybrid approach. Guests move between buffet stations and made-to-order dishes that come directly from the kitchen. This structure gives the brunch a more personalised feel, with dishes arriving fresh rather than sitting under heat lamps. It also helps maintain consistency in flavour and presentation throughout the meal.

The live stations add another layer of engagement, particularly the carved meats and freshly prepared mains that bring a sense of theatre without feeling overdone. Desserts round off the experience on a polished note, offering a mix of familiar favourites and delicate plated sweets that reflect the hotel’s attention to detail.
Service is attentive without being intrusive, in line with the hotel’s broader identity of quiet luxury. The overall impression is one of balance, between indulgence and restraint, comfort and refinement.
At its price point, Atas Sunday Brunch positions itself firmly in the premium category, and it delivers accordingly. It may not be the most extravagant buffet in the city, but it stands out for its composure, consistency and focus on well-executed dishes rather than sheer volume. For diners looking for a slower, more curated Sunday experience, this is one of Kuala Lumpur’s more reliable choices.
Fuego, Troika Sky Dining

Perched high above the city, the restaurant has long been one of Kuala Lumpur’s go-to spots for Latin American-inspired dining, pairing panoramic skyline views with bold, fire-driven flavours. The restaurant, true to its roots, delivered a dinner experience that balances smoky, spicy and citrusy notes across both its food and cocktail offerings.
The evening began with a selection of cocktails, each bringing its own personality to the table. The Smokey Beat stood out for its earthy and berry combination, while the Tequilapeno offered a pleasant kick of jalapeno heat without overwhelming the palate. For those who prefer something lighter, the tropical Coco Loco and fruit-forward Sunset Glow provided easy-drinking alternatives.

Among the starters, the super spicy guacamole lived up to its name with a punchy heat level that chilli lovers will appreciate. The snapper tiradito was spectacular, with delicate slices of raw fish elevated by caviar and spices, while the elote delivered a satisfying combination of sweetness, char and creamy richness.
The mains showcased Fuego’s strength in open-fire cooking. The chicken thigh anticuchos were tender and well-seasoned, but the grilled octopus takes the cake. It achieves a balance between smoky char while keeping the succulent texture of the octopus in tact. Vegetarians are not left out either, with the cauliflower steak proving surprisingly hearty and flavourful.

For meat lovers, the wagyu picanha offered exactly what one would expect from the restaurant’s signature grill-focused approach. Juicy, well-executed beef with enough smokiness to complement rather than overpower the quality of the meat.
Dessert arrived in the form of churros served with salted caramel mousse. It was incredibly crispy on the outside and fluffy within, providing a comforting finish to an otherwise bold and flavour-packed meal.
While the city views remain a major draw, Fuego continues to justify its reputation through consistently vibrant flavours and a menu designed for sharing, making it as much about the experience as the food itself.
King of the Grill BBQ buffet, The Pearl Kuala Lumpur

The Pearl Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s King of the Grill BBQ Buffet Dinner is a feast that truly justifies its name. Spanning over 80 dishes across five Friday and Saturday evenings, this buffet delivers on variety, quality and value. The seafood on ice stood out immediately. Everything was fresh, and the oysters were particularly impressive – sweet, thick and undeniably fresh.
There was no fishy smell, just pure ocean quality. The sashimi selection also impressed. The butterfish was the star – it literally melts in your mouth with its rich, creamy texture. The salmon and tuna cuts were excellent, sliced perfectly and tasted fresh without any fishy odour. You can tell they prioritise quality over quantity here.
The grilled meats were well seasoned and there was plenty of variety. From Portuguese-style grilled whole fish to grilled lamb shoulder and well seasoned mini beef steak, each item was cooked to perfection.

Dessert options were just right as well – not overwhelming but enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. The cheese selection was surprisingly good, and paired perfectly with the cold cuts. It was a nice touch that elevated the overall experience beyond just a typical BBQ buffet.
To add on, the ambiance is lovely with warm lighting and comfortable seating that paired beautifully with impeccable service throughout – staff were attentive, friendly and quick to refill plates or answer questions. They maintained the buffet stations well, ensuring food was always fresh and at the right temperature.
For RM118 per adult, this is one of the better BBQ buffets in Kuala Lumpur. The quality of seafood, especially the oysters and sashimi, sets it apart from competitors. The well-seasoned grilled meats and creative dessert options add another layer of excellence.
