CAMERON HIGHLANDS: The landslide near Block C of Puncak Arabella Apartment in Tanah Rata is believed to have been caused by continuous heavy rain.

The Cameron Highlands District Disaster Management Committee confirmed 91 residents from 24 affected units have been instructed to relocate.

Forty residents from eight households are currently at the Puncak Arabella Hall temporary relief centre.

Fifty-one other residents from 16 households have moved to nearby relatives’ homes.

No casualties were reported in the incident that occurred at approximately 8.45 pm on Friday.

The Department of Minerals and Geoscience has implemented temporary slope-protection measures.

Large-scale cleaning works will commence following these initial stabilisation efforts.

Residents in adjacent Block B may be evacuated if slope evaluation reports indicate safety concerns.

The Cameron Highlands District Council and concessionaire cleared roads immediately after the incident.

Access to the apartment area was fully restored to all vehicles by Saturday morning.
