Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin reaffirms MINDEF’s full cooperation with MACC on all corruption probes, focusing on procurement integrity.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Defence has reaffirmed its commitment to full cooperation with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on all corruption investigations.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pic) said the commitment aligns with principles of transparency, accountability and integrity to keep defence institutions free from unethical practices.
He said the matter was discussed during a courtesy call by MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki at Wisma Pertahanan.
“The visit reflects a clear signal of the shared commitment between the ministry and the MACC in efforts to strengthen integrity and governance,” Mohamed Khaled said in a statement.
He said this was in line with the need to reinforce public confidence in defence institutions.
Both parties also exchanged views on improving existing procurement procedures for more effective implementation.
The goal is to ensure procedures are free from risks like corruption and abuse of power.
Mohamed Khaled said the MACC agreed to offer advisory services to strengthen procurement governance at MINDEF and the Malaysian Armed Forces.
He stressed the mutual understanding is crucial for the ministry’s resolve to comprehensively combat corruption and abuse.
“This is an ongoing effort to restore the trust of the people and the nation in the MAF through clean governance practices,” he said.
