DPM congratulates Malaysian Orang Asli pupils win gold at International Robot Olympiad

Three Orang Asli pupils from Johor clinch gold at the 2025 International Robot Olympiad in Australia, showcasing Malaysia’s global robotics talent.

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has congratulated three Orang Asli pupils for winning a gold medal at the 27th International Robot Olympiad (IRO 2025) in Australia.

The pupils from Sekolah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Tereh in Kluang, Johor, triumphed in the Creative Idea (Primary School) Category with their Mars exploration robot rover.

Ahmad Zahid said their win proves that Malaysian children, including those in rural areas, possess the talent and potential to compete globally.

“It is a great achievement that we all should be proud of and will inspire the young generation to continue to excel in the future,” he posted on X.

Malaysia sent 15 Orang Asli pupils from five primary schools to represent the country at the event in Gold Coast.

Their rover, designed to explore the surface of Mars, secured the gold medal, beating participants from 15 other countries.

The national contingent also won a bronze medal in the Junior Technical Creative Category.
