Malaysia achieves 80% end-to-end online government services, with a 95% target by 2030 and major AI adoption boosting public sector productivity.
PUTRAJAYA: End-to-end online delivery of government services has reached 80% as of last year. The Digital Ministry attributed this achievement to continuous monitoring by the National Digital Department.
The government aims to have 95% of federal services delivered online by 2030. It also targets 100% digitalisation of federal data through a Whole-of-Government approach.
“This is a strategic measure to strengthen national digital transformation and enhance service efficiency and quality for the public,” the ministry said in a statement.
The National Digital Department is preparing the 2026–2030 Public Sector Digitalisation Plan to accelerate efforts at state and local authority levels. This plan is expected to be completed by mid-month.
The initiative includes upgrading systems, adopting new technologies, and developing digital talent. It aims to ensure the public sector’s transformation is comprehensive and impactful.
The ministry highlighted the expanded use of artificial intelligence through the AI@Work initiative. As of December last year, 373,346 public servants were actively using AI.
This adoption has resulted in improved productivity and service quality. “These efforts will continue this year, in line with the government’s digital transformation agenda,” the statement read.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to advancing digitalisation and AI adoption. This aligns with the Prime Minister’s call for transformation to benefit the public and enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness.
In his New Year’s address, the Prime Minister urged all ministries to expedite online service delivery. He emphasised the move should save time and reduce administrative burdens on the public.
