Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil celebrates National Artist Day, highlighting government support for the creative industry and its unifying role
KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has extended his greetings for National Artist Day, celebrated annually on 22 March.
In a Facebook post, Fahmi said this year’s theme, ‘Syawal Seni, Jiwa MADANI’, is a tribute to all artists and creative industry practitioners who enrich the nation’s identity.
He stated that the MADANI government is committed to empowering the creative industry through four key national policies.
These are the National Creative Industry Policy, National Film Policy, National Broadcasting Policy and National Music Policy.
“May this industry continue to progress, be sustainable and competitive,” he said.
Fahmi added his thanks, urging artists to “continue creating for Malaysia”.
National Artist Day is observed on 22 March to mark the birth anniversary of the late National Laureate Tan Sri P. Ramlee.
The day serves to remember the works and contributions of the nation’s artistic community.
