Families of Durian Tunggal shooting victims give statements at Bukit Aman

Relatives of three men shot dead by police in Melaka gave statements at Bukit Aman, handing over a phone with an audio recording of the incident

KUALA LUMPUR: Family members of three men shot dead by police in Durian Tunggal, Melaka, gave their statements at Bukit Aman police headquarters today.

The relatives arrived at the federal police complex at 10.45am to meet with a special investigation team.

Their lawyer, Rajesh Nagarajan, said one family member brought a mobile phone containing an audio recording of the incident to hand over to investigators.

The three men, aged between 24 and 29, were killed on November 24 after one allegedly slashed a police officer with a parang at an oil palm plantation.

A corporal in his early 30s suffered serious injuries to his left arm during the confrontation.

Police alleged the suspects, described as members of the Durian Tunggal Gang, were en route to rob a premises and had been active in crime since 2024.

On December 3, the families refuted claims that the men acted violently by attacking the police.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M Kumar announced the formation of a special team to probe the families’ claims the following day. – Bernama
