A deceased worker’s family is eligible for full Socso benefits, including a monthly survivors’ pension and a funeral grant, following a fatal road accident
KUALA LUMPUR: The family of a worker who died in a recent road accident is eligible for full benefits from the Social Security Organisation (Socso).
Socso confirmed the late Luqman Nul Hakim Halim, 36, was an active contributor under its LINDUNG Pekerja Scheme.
A check revealed his last contribution was in December 2025, maintaining his active status at the time of the tragedy on January 11.
His eligible dependents are entitled to a monthly Survivors’ Pension totalling RM1,493.78.
This will be paid to his widow, Siti Nabilah Mohd Ridzuan, 39, and their four sons, aged between nine months and nine years.
The widow will receive monthly pension benefits for life. Her four children will receive the same until they reach the age of 21, or until the completion of their first undergraduate degree.
The family is also eligible for a one-off Funeral Management Benefit of RM3,000.
The tragedy occurred while the deceased and his family were traveling back to Batu Pahat, Johor, by express bus.
The bus collided with a three-tonne truck. Luqman suffered severe injuries and was confirmed dead due to internal injuries complicated by a heart condition.
Socso mobilised its Prihatin Squad to assist the family. A ‘Ziarah Prihatin’ (Compassionate Visit) was conducted on January 15, alongside the presentation of a ‘Kotak Prihatin’ (Care Box).
“This tragedy serves as a reminder that continuous contribution compliance by employers is vital,” Socso said in a statement.
It ensures workers and their heirs receive proper social protection when unforeseen disasters strike.
