‘Our family has been trying to deal with the sadness of his father’s death two weeks ago due to intestinal cancer…’

SIMPANG RENGGAM: Mohd Aiman Mohd Rashid, who was killed in a five-vehicle crash along Jalan Johor Bahru-Ayer Hitam, Simpang Renggam, Johor today had just lost his father a fortnight ago, his aunt said.

Nor Haida Dolah, 54, said that they had not expected such a tragedy to befall her nephew, Mohd Aiman, 36.

“Our family has been trying to deal with the sadness of his father’s death two weeks ago due to intestinal cancer and today we are hit with the most heartbreaking news that not only Mohd Aiman but his wife, his mother-in-law and his niece have died in the crash,” she said when met at Taman Sejati, Bandar Al Muktafil Billah Shah (AMBS) here today.

Mohd Aiman, who lived and worked at Felda Ulu Sedili Oil Palm Plantation, Johor was on his way back from a close relative’s celebration in Telok Emas, Melaka when he was involved in the 1 pm crash that killed him, along with his mother-in-law, Semek Mat Soh, 73, wife Nor Azlina Abd Latif, 33, and niece, Nur Airish Syifa Sidek,10.

Nor Haida described her nephew as a filial son who always was concerned about his parents, Mohd Rashid Dolah, 59, and Fauziah Abdullah, 59, as well as his ailing mother-in-law.

“Mohd Aiman and Nor Azlina who married in 2019 and were still childless, didn’t show any drastic change as they had always been friendly with their family members,” she said, adding that the last time she saw them was during Aidiladha last Wednesday.

The couple had returned to Ulu Sedili on Thursday with their niece and were expected to return here on Saturday as Nur Airish Syifa was supposed to start school on Sunday.

She learned of the crash from other relatives at 1.30 pm today and then informed Nur Airish Syifa’s parents, Sidek Abdul Hamid, 42, and Nurul Ain Mohd Rashid, 38, along with other family members.

“Mohd Aiman’s mother, Fauziah, Sidek and Nurul Ain then left for Enche’ Besar Hajah Khalsom Hospital, Kluang, Johor at 2.30 pm to manage the funeral arrangements and to bring their remains back here,” she added.
