Innovation must be guided by integrity and ethics, says Perlis Raja Muda

The Raja Muda of Perlis stresses that innovation in the AI era must be guided by integrity, ethics and social responsibility.

ARAU: Innovation in the era of rapid technological advancement and artificial intelligence must be firmly guided by integrity, ethics and social responsibility, said the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

He said true success is not measured solely by victory or recognition, but by the extent to which inventions create meaningful solutions and benefit both humanity and the environment.

“Every innovation and research effort must be grounded in integrity and ethics. Honesty throughout the work process ensures that the outcomes produced are of genuine quality and reliability, while also bringing blessings to every endeavour,” he said.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, who is also the Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), said this when officiating the closing ceremony of the Perlis International Engineering Invention & Innovation Exhibition (Pi-ENVEX) 2026 at UniMAP here today.

Also present was the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who is also the Pro-Chancellor of UniMAP. UniMAP vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Zaliman Sauli was also in attendance.

Meanwhile, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra called on researchers and students to view their participation in Pi-ENVEX as a valuable platform for learning, development and self-improvement.

“Every experience, whether successful or otherwise, is an opportunity to gain knowledge, strengthen skills and build self-confidence in facing greater challenges in the future,” said the Raja Muda of Perlis.

In the meantime, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra congratulated UniMAP on its impressive 2025 achievement, after the Graduate Tracking Study showed that the university recorded a Graduate Employability Rate of 99.3 per cent, while its Graduate Marketability Rate stood at 99.4 per cent.

“At the same time, it serves as proof of UniMAP’s quality education in producing graduates who are competitive, relevant and well-prepared to enter the workforce,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zaliman said in his speech that Pi-ENVEX 2026, which entered its 13th edition this year, showcased 221 products from home and abroad across primary school, secondary school, university and international categories.

“This year, Pi-ENVEX 2026 has attracted participation from 11 countries, namely Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Romania, Sudan, Yemen, Nigeria, Egypt, Palestine and Malaysia, further proving its relevance as an international platform for innovation and research. Thank you to all participants for your commitment and participation in making Pi-ENVEX 2026 a success,” he said.
