Over 800 students in Ipoh Barat received RM300 each from the Sumbangan Kasih MADANI fund to help with school essentials before Chinese New Year and Ramadan.
IPOH: A total of 800 students from 18 schools in the Ipoh Barat parliamentary constituency have received cash aid from the Sumbangan Kasih MADANI charity fund.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said RM250,000 was distributed, providing RM300 to each student to ease family burdens for learning materials ahead of the Chinese New Year and Ramadan celebrations.
The initiative was conducted in collaboration with strategic partner Berjaya Cares Foundation. Nga said the effort reflects the government’s commitment to public welfare and ensuring no one is left behind.
“Even though it’s Chinese New Year, we also support Malay and Indian communities, as MADANI stands for compassion, mercy, unity, and harmony,” he told reporters after the event at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Bercham.
Nga, who is also the Kepayang state assemblyman, was joined by Berjaya Group Berhad executive director Shashitharan Nair. Also present were Buntong assemblywoman M. Thulsi and Bercham assemblyman Ong Boon Piow.
