Johor JKM confirms disaster relief supplies are sufficient at depots across all districts to support flood victims during the Northeast Monsoon.
BATU PAHAT: The Social Welfare Department (JKM) in Johor has assured that disaster relief supplies at its main depot in Muar and mini depots in all districts remain sufficient throughout the Northeast Monsoon.
State JKM director Ahmad Hashim Selamat said the department is continuously monitoring weather conditions and coordinating with JKM headquarters, the National Disaster Management Agency and the Malaysian Meteorological Department to ensure timely assistance.
He noted that Mersing was the first district affected by flooding this season, differing from the usual pattern where Segamat, Kota Tinggi, Kluang and Batu Pahat are typically hit first.
“In previous monsoon periods, the districts usually affected first were Segamat, Kota Tinggi, Kluang and Batu Pahat,” he said.
“This time, however, the focus is on Mersing.”
Ahmad Hashim said the department is preparing for unexpected floods by mobilising supplies from other district mini depots when necessary.
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Capacity Development Programme and Appreciation Night for Johor Home Help Service Volunteers.
Commenting on the volunteer programme, he said JKM welcomes the involvement of non-governmental organisations in assisting the elderly and persons with disabilities at home.
“As of December 2025, there are 136 Home Help Service volunteers in Johor, serving 544 clients,” he added.
He said the department expects this number to increase next year.
