Kampung Kuala Pangsun gets RM1 million boost for community facilities

A RM1 million upgrade to roads, a futsal court and a hall in Kampung Kuala Pangsun is set to enhance local life and unlock tourism potential under a government initiative

HULU LANGAT: Infrastructure upgrades in Kampung Kuala Pangsun under the Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative are expected to bring lasting benefits to its residents. The improvements aim to boost community engagement and local economic activities.

Village chief Mohamad Hanafiah Hussin said the commitment of residents was vital to maintain the new facilities. He urged the community to not only care for them but to seek continuous improvement through cooperation.

“I hope these facilities will be cared for responsibly,” Mohamad Hanafiah told reporters at a project handover ceremony. He was joined by the Prime Minister’s Department Senior Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Abd Shukor Mahmood.

Mohamad Hanafiah said the village, home to 500-600 residents including the Orang Asli Temuan community, is now in a much better condition. He noted that previously weather-damaged public amenities have been restored.

The upgraded facilities can also serve as centres for community activities. This is expected to encourage local youths to participate in healthier pursuits.

The village chief highlighted the area’s significant tourism potential due to its natural attractions. These include scenic rivers and mountainous areas.

“Visitors come every week from various communities, including some from outside the state, because of the uniqueness of this village,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abd Shukor confirmed the project involved upgrades to roads, a futsal court and the community hall. These works are intended to directly support residents’ wellbeing.

He explained that a quick-win approach was adopted to deliver benefits within a short period. The focus was on fast results that could be used immediately by the community.

“The allocation for this project is RM1 million,” Abd Shukor said. He added that other small-scale projects are implemented under separate allocations.
