The Ministry of Education pledges to strengthen Bahasa Melayu and history in line with the King’s parliamentary address, focusing on the new Malaysia Education Plan.
PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Education has described the Royal Address by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim as a crucial reminder to empower the national education ecosystem.
In a statement, the ministry said the address emphasised that any recognition of other education systems must align with the National Education Policy.
It must also uphold Bahasa Melayu and strengthen the teaching of Malaysian history.
“The MOE is focusing on the implementation of the Malaysia Education Plan 2026-2035 and the new preschool curriculum,” the statement read.
The RPM 2026-2035 continues the work of the previous Malaysian Education Development Plan, which concluded last year.
Its main goal is to improve education quality for all Malaysian children.
“As decreed by His Majesty, the plan emphasises efforts to elevate Bahasa Melayu as the national language,” the ministry added.
It also focuses on strengthening mastery of English and other languages as added value for students.
The MOE affirmed that the King’s decree would be implemented to improve national education and public well-being.
It also thanked His Majesty for his address at the opening of Parliament, which stressed education’s importance.
