Over 1,000 cheap fish sale events will be held across Perak in 2025, offering fish at 20-40% below market price to boost food security.
IPOH: The Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) will organise more than 1,000 cheap fish sale events across Perak this year.
State Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun (pic) said a variety of fish species will be offered at 20% to 40% below the current market price.
“For example, mackerel is sold at RM13.60 per kilogramme compared to the market price of RM17 per kg, jenahak fish at RM36 per kg compared to the market price of RM45 per kg,” he said.
The sales will be conducted three times a week using tents, tricycles, or moving lorries at selected locations.
Mohd Zolkafly said the programme aligns with the state’s fisheries production goals to strengthen the supply chain and enhance food security.
He invited interested entrepreneurs to participate in the initiative.
