Malaysia welcomes UN resolution on Israel’s obligations in Palestine

Malaysia welcomes a UN resolution demanding Israel comply with international law and facilitate humanitarian aid in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has welcomed the adoption of a United Nations General Assembly resolution reaffirming Israel’s obligations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The Foreign Ministry said the resolution, led by a group of like-minded countries including Malaysia, underscores the primacy of international law.

It also highlights the international community’s resolve to implement the recent findings of the International Court of Justice.

The resolution gives effect to the ICJ’s Advisory Opinion of 22 October 2025 on Israel’s obligations as the occupying power.

It received overwhelming support from UN member states with 139 votes in favour.

Malaysia demands Israel’s immediate compliance with all its legal obligations.

This includes facilitating humanitarian relief efforts by UN entities, particularly UNRWA, without obstruction.

Israel must also protect all humanitarian and medical personnel.

It must uphold the privileges and immunities of the UN, its premises, property, and officials.

“Malaysia will continue to work with the international community to ensure a just, comprehensive, and lasting solution to the question of Palestine,” the ministry added.

This must be in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions. – Bernama
