KPKM mandates Certificate of Analysis for five imported vegetables from June 1 to strengthen food safety controls at all entry points.
PUTRAJAYA: The mandatory requirement of Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for five imported vegetables by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security’s (KPKM) takes effect June 1 in its latest move to tighten national food safety controls.
In a statement today, the ministry identified the five vegetables as red chillies, cucumbers, tomatoes, mustard greens (sawi), and round cabbages.
“This measure is being implemented to strengthen national food safety controls, particularly to ensure that imported vegetables entering the local market comply with established safety and quality standards,” the statement read.
KPKM said the CoA requirement will be enforced at all entry points nationwide in collaboration with the Food Safety and Quality Programme, Health Ministry, Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department and Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency.
The ministry said it will ensure smooth enforcement with all relevant agencies, without disrupting domestic vegetable supply.
KPKM added that the CoA application guidelines will be uploaded to its official website soon for importers and stakeholders.
