PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry (MOH) has stepped up enforcement of the nationwide smoking ban through focused operations at hotspot locations, faster investigations of public complaints, and joint operations with local authorities.
Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said in 2025, MOH carried out 22,278 enforcement activities, issuing 140,217 notices for smoking offences, including 62,978 at restaurants and other food premises.
“Meanwhile, 20,884 compounds were also imposed on premises owners who failed to display no-smoking signs or provided smoking equipment, as required under the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852),” he said in a written parliamentary reply.
Dzulkefly stressed that the nationwide smoking ban in restaurants, food premises, and public areas remains fully in force under the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852).
He also emphasised that public education and advocacy efforts are being strengthened to ensure consistent compliance nationwide.
“The smoking ban remains fully in force, and offenders will face strict action,” it added, urging the public to report violations promptly via WhatsApp and JomLapor.com.
