Johor KPDN has issued RM676,250 in compound notices to traders for various offences, including failure to display price tags and using unverified weighing instruments.
JOHOR BAHRU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Johor branch has issued compound notices totalling RM676,250 against traders found to have committed various offences.
Its director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said this involved 1,671 cases recorded under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 and 442 cases under the Weights and Measures Act 1972.
Compounds under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 amounted to RM561,050.
Cases under the Weights and Measures Act 1972 accounted for RM115,200.
She said the offences included failure to display price tags and the use of unverified weighing instruments for business purposes.
Lilis Saslinda advised traders to always comply with the law as a long-term investment in building consumer trust.
She said continuous engagement with various parties, including suppliers, is being conducted to safeguard food supply in Johor during the Northeast Monsoon.
The ministry had also recently instructed suppliers to maintain a 30% stockpile of food supplies in preparation for the monsoon.
