Pahang Sultan expresses sympathy for Sandakan fire victims

Sultan and Tengku Ampuan of Pahang convey condolences and support to thousands displaced by a devastating fire in a Sabah floating village

KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have expressed profound sorrow over a major fire in Sandakan.

Their Majesties extended their deepest sympathy to all victims affected by the devastating blaze in Kampung Bahagia, Batu Sapi.

In a statement on the Sultanate of Pahang’s official Facebook page, they conveyed condolences and hoped for strength and patience for those facing the ordeal.

The royals were deeply saddened by the tragedy’s extensive destruction, which reportedly destroyed about 1,000 houses.

The fire has affected a total of 9,007 residents, according to the statement.

Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah also expressed appreciation to all parties involved in rescue and emergency relief efforts.

They hoped recovery initiatives would be carried out swiftly to safeguard the welfare of the victims.

Their Majesties prayed for the affected residents to remain under Allah’s protection.

They also prayed for conditions to return to normal as soon as possible.

The fire at the Kampung Bahagia floating village was reported yesterday, leaving thousands displaced.
