Pahang Sultan urges caution during hot, dry weather

Sultan of Pahang advises public to avoid open burning and stay hydrated as temperatures rise, calling for vigilance to prevent fires and haze

KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has called on the public to exercise increased vigilance and refrain from open burning amid the current hot and dry weather.

In a post on the Pahang Royalty Facebook page, His Majesty stated the current conditions demand serious attention due to rising temperatures and heightened fire risks in the dry environment.

“The public is advised to always ensure sufficient water intake, reduce outdoor activities during midday and take precautionary steps, especially among high-risk groups like children, the elderly and those with health problems,” he said.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also urged people to avoid open burning, including the incineration of rubbish, dry leaves or garden waste, which can trigger uncontrolled fires and degrade air quality.

“The practice of open burning is not only dangerous but can also cause haze and affect public health. The people should be more responsible in protecting the environment,” he said.

His Majesty called for all parties, including local authorities, to enhance monitoring and take strict action against those violating the open burning ban.

“The public is advised to immediately report any fires or open burning activities to the authorities to prevent worse incidents,” he said.

Al-Sultan Abdullah added that everyone must remain alert and play their part in ensuring the state’s safety and well-being is preserved throughout this hot and dry period.
