Perak KPDN deploys 195 enforcement and 75 monitoring officers to enforce Christmas price controls on nine essential goods until Dec 27.
BAGAN DATUK: The Perak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living has deployed 270 personnel to enforce festive season price controls.
A total of 195 enforcement officers and 75 Price Monitoring Officers have been stationed at strategic locations for the Christmas 2025 Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme.
The scheme, effective until December 27, aims to curb profiteering and ensure reasonable prices for essential goods.
Perak KPDN director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail warned of strict action against violators of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
“Strict action including compounds and prosecution will be taken against traders found to be violating provisions,” he said.
He spoke after a compliance inspection at Econsave Hutan Melintang Supermarket near here.
The scheme covers nine essential goods with set maximum wholesale and retail prices.
The controlled items are imported boneless mutton, round cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, green bell peppers, red chillies, potatoes, large red onions and large yellow onions.
Traders must display pink price tags on these items for easy consumer comparison.
Kamalludin noted 44 offence cases were compounded during Deepavali SHMMP enforcement operations.
Forty cases involved failure to display pink tags, with the rest related to missing price tags.
He reminded traders to comply with all regulations, including using verified weighing instruments.
Monitoring will be increased at public markets, supermarkets, and business premises statewide to ensure compliance.
