Pupil falls from third floor in Padang Terap school

Kedah JPN confirms a Year Five pupil fell from a school’s third floor in Padang Terap, with injuries now treated at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

ALOR SETAR: The Kedah State Education Department (JPN Kedah) has confirmed an incident today in which a Year Five pupil fell from the third floor of a school in the Padang Terap district.

In a statement, the Kedah JPN said the incident occurred during the afternoon session of the Quran and Fardu Ain (KAFA) class.

“The pupil had returned home before coming back for the KAFA session. The incident took place before the class began, when the pupil climbed alone into the ceiling space on that floor.

“The pupil is believed to have been trying to catch a pigeon inside the ceiling space through the fire hose access point. Further details on the incident will be released soon,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Padang Terap police chief Supt Mohd Anuar Junoh said police received a call from a teacher at the school at about 4 pm reporting the incident.

“At the time of the incident, the victim was at the school to attend the KAFA class. The victim, who sustained injuries to several parts of the body, is currently receiving treatment at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar,” he said.
